Karen Olivo will not return to the cast of \u201cMoulin Rouge!\u201d when Broadway productions resume after a delay of more than a year. Olivo, a graduate of Harrison School<\/a> for the Arts in Lakeland, stunned the theater world with the recent announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olivo\u2019s action is a protest against what she calls the theater industry\u2019s \u201csilence\u201d toward allegations of workplace harassment against producer Scott Rudin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI could easily go back to the show and make a lot of money, but I still wouldn\u2019t be able to control what I was putting out into the world,\u201d Olivo said in a video posted on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd what I\u2019m seeing in this space right now, with our industry, is that everybody is scared, and nobody is really doing a lot of the stuff that needs to be done. People aren\u2019t speaking out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
