As a result but one million dollars expenses would now be absorbed by those departments.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Overdue infrastructure projects:<\/strong>&nbsp;Commissioners agreed to accelerate work on both maintenance of existing infrastructure \u2014 roads, sidewalks, bridges, water and sewer pipes, utility lines, etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Downtown West:<\/strong>&nbsp;The city will focus more around RP Funding Center, which is increasingly being called Downtown West.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Pedestrian highline to Downtown West:<\/strong>&nbsp;Commissioners are going to start planning for a \u201chighline\u201d pedestrian walkway to allow people to cross the CSX railroad tracks between Downtown West and new development to the north, including&nbsp;Bonnet Springs Park.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fly-lakeland.png?resize=353%2C118&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10285\" width=\"353\" height=\"118\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Downtown catalyst funds:&nbsp;<\/strong>The city has set aside just over $1 million dollars for development incentives related to a&nbsp;downtown master plan&nbsp;created in 2018-19<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Airport commercial service backstop:&nbsp;<\/strong>The commissioners what to aggressively pursue commercial airline service at Lakeland Linder Airport in the 2022 budget, they reserved a $1 million called a \u201cbackstop\u201d to be used as a revenue guarantee in the airline\u2019s first year.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Manufacturing incentives:&nbsp;<\/strong>Funds for the manufacturing incentives that were ranked lower but they are incorporated in the downtown redevelopment priority.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As Lakeland Commissioners agreed planning workshop these 10 priorities are key strategies for the growth and for the future of the city.
