Ron DeSantis was in Volusia County Thursday morning to sign a bill that makes alcohol to-go a permanent fixture in the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/alcohol-to-go-drinks-bill.png?resize=369%2C207&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11030\" width=\"369\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/alcohol-to-go-drinks-bill.png?resize=1024%2C576&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/alcohol-to-go-drinks-bill.png?resize=300%2C169&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/alcohol-to-go-drinks-bill.png?resize=768%2C432&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/alcohol-to-go-drinks-bill.png?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DeSantis signed an executive order allowing alcoholic beverages in to-go orders to help businesses during the safer at home order in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the governor&#8217;s signature, the bill goes into effect on July 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bill requires cutting off the sale of to-go drinks \u2014 mixed or in bottles \u2014 when restaurants\u2019 scheduled food service ends for the day or at midnight, whichever occurs first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drinks will not be able to exceed 32 ounces and need to be placed in secured containers by the business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alcoholic drinks that are being delivered will need to be placed in locked compartments, vehicle trunks or in areas behind the last upright seats in vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bill also allows customers to take opened bottles of wine home or a full closed bottle of wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information on the bill,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Session\/Bill\/2021\/148\/BillText\/er\/PDF\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Gov.
