A concrete\nmedian separates vehicles from cyclists.&nbsp; Majority funding for the\n$674,000 project was provided by the Florida Department of Transportation who\nissued a $530,000 grant toward design and construction costs. Lakeland is\nrecognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American\nBicyclists.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"New York Avenue Cycle Track ribbon cutting ceremony\" width=\"1110\" height=\"624\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ID4FMr18IpU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The League of American Bicyclists now offers the first\nportion of their Traffic Skills 101 course online for free.
