A Lakeland man was arrested Wednesday and charged with taking part in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FBI agents took Joshua Christopher Doolin, 23, into custody after a morning raid, an agency spokeswoman confirmed. He is the second person from Polk County known to be arrested for involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection that resulted in five deaths and injuries to dozens of police officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doolin, a former Polk County Fire Rescue employee, is charged with assaulting, resisting or impeding officers or employees; violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; and entry to a restricted building or grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrea Aprea, a spokeswoman for the FBI office in Tampa, confirmed that agents conducted \u201ccourt-authorized activity\u201d in Lakeland on Wednesday morning. She referred The Ledger to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Middle District of Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Court records showed two entries for Doolin \u2014 an arrest warrant and a financial affidavit. But neither was available for public viewing by The Ledger\u2019s deadline Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doolin had not yet been added to the U.S. Department of Justice\u2019s master list of Capitol breach suspects as of Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Records for the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Middle District of Florida showed Doolin\u2019s case had been assigned to Magistrate Judge Thomas G. Wilson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doolin was hired on May 3 by Polk County Fire Rescue as an emergency medical technician, county spokeswoman Mianne Nelson said by email. He was fired Wednesday after his arrest, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuli Kotler of St. Petersburg is listed as Doolin\u2019s attorney in court records. Kotler hung up without speaking when reached by a reporter Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doolin is the second Polk County resident arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 attack. Corinne Lee Montoni, 31, was arrested at her Lakeland home in early March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montoni has been charged with obstruction of an official proceeding and entering and remaining, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds and disorderly conduct for parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building, and aiding and abetting the commission of those offenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
