Even if you\u2019ve been vaccinated against COVID-19, the CDC recommends you wear a mask in public indoor settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In new guidance for local leaders, the CDC is calling on all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to wear a mask on campus, regardless of vaccination status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kids-masks_wide.jpg?resize=1024%2C576&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13647\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kids-masks_wide.jpg?resize=1024%2C576&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kids-masks_wide.jpg?resize=300%2C169&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kids-masks_wide.jpg?resize=768%2C432&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kids-masks_wide.jpg?w=1400&amp;ssl=1 1400w\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CDC is also calling on community leaders to encourage people to get vaccinated in order to stop the current surge in COVID-19 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For much of the pandemic, the CDC advised Americans to wear masks outdoors if they were within 6 feet of one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When vaccination rates went up in April, the agency eased its guidelines on the wearing of masks outdoors, allowing fully vaccinated Americans to ditch face masks unless they were in a big crowd of strangers. In May, the CDC further eased its guidance for fully vaccinated people, allowing them to stop wearing masks outdoors in crowds and in most indoor settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mask guidance still calls for people to wear masks in crowded indoor settings, like buses, planes, hospitals, prisons, and homeless shelters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an expected reversal, the CDC is now urging even vaccinated people to wear masks in some settings.
