Legoland Florida Resort is expecting 300 guests on Friday from the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida, which will include more than a dozen families from Polk County.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merlin\u2019s Magic Wand Foundation, a charity that supports children facing challenges of serious illness, disability, or adversity, is hosting the event. The foundation\u00a0is operated by Merlin Entertainments, the parent company of Legoland\u00a0Parks.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u201cWe are so thrilled to invite our families back for the first Family Fun Day in nearly two years,\u201d said\u00a0the association’s executive\u00a0director, Heather Barnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Families\u00a0receive a pass to\u00a0the\u00a0Legoland\u00a0theme park and can visit on their own time.\u00a0There are also special discounts, raffle prizes,\u00a0and a private character meet.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event\u00a0had been\u00a0canceled\u00a0during the\u00a0surge of Covid-19 cases.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo many families have struggled with difficulties keeping their children quarantined and are unable to comprehend the pandemic, causing secondary issues like depression,” association development manager Amy Drow said. “It is wonderful to finally have one of our favorite days of the year return for our kiddos to bring smiles to many children in need.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
