{"id":17111,"date":"2021-11-12T16:29:38","date_gmt":"2021-11-12T21:29:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=17111"},"modified":"2021-11-12T16:30:23","modified_gmt":"2021-11-12T21:30:23","slug":"orlando-health-new-hospital-in-lakeland-set-to-open-in-fall-of-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2021\/11\/12\/orlando-health-new-hospital-in-lakeland-set-to-open-in-fall-of-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Orlando Health new hospital in Lakeland set to open in fall of 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Orlando Health is officially moving forward on the construction of its Lakeland Highlands Hospital located on 80 acres south of the Polk Parkway at Lakeland Highlands Road and the Winter Lake Extension Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/orlando-heath-Laklend.jpeg?resize=300%2C187&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17112\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a Friday press release, construction on the South Lakeland facility is slated to begin in late spring 2022 for an expected hospital opening date in fall 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;With the extraordinary growth we see in Lakeland and Polk County, the need for this hospital is clear and we are so excited that Orlando Health is here to help meet this need,&#8221; Orlando Health CEO Dr. Jamal Hakim said in the press release.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Orlando Health purchased the land for the hospital from Edward Holloway in November 2020 for an undisclosed amount.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new hospital will have 136 inpatient beds and 24 Emergency Department beds. Approved plans pave the way for more than double that amount of beds, 360, as well as a 20,000 square foot ambulatory surgical center, 240,000 square feet of medical office space, 20,000 square feet of retail space and a 150-room hotel.
