Each location will provide sand and sandbags, but not\nshovels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Mulberry \u2013 900 NE 5th St., Mulberry,&nbsp;(863)\n519-4734<\/li><li>Lakeland \u2013 8970 N. Campbell Road, Lakeland&nbsp;(863)\n815-6701<\/li><li>Fort Meade \u2013 1061 NE 9th St., Fort Meade&nbsp;(863)\n285-6588<\/li><li>Frostproof \u2013 350 County Road 630A,\nFrostproof&nbsp;(863) 635-7879<\/li><li>Auburndale \u2013 1701 Holt Road, Auburndale&nbsp;(863)\n965-5524<\/li><li>Dundee \u2013 805 Dr. Martin Luther King St. SW,\nDundee,&nbsp;(863) 421-3367<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday\nthrough Thursday. Only the Fort Meade and Frostproof sites will be open on\nFriday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;On Monday, only the Mulberry, Lakeland, Auburndale and\nDundee sites will be open. However, this could change depending on the storm&#8217;s\ntrack and intensity,&#8221; officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents living in flood prone areas are encouraged to\nsandbag their homes. To protect against water damage, follow these simple\nsandbagging techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s how to use the sandbags:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. If not working on concrete, a small ditch should be dug\njust deep enough to go below ground level in places where water can enter a\nstructure. The ditch should be back far enough from the entrance to allow room\nto place optional submersible or sump pumps into the protected area. The edge\nof the visqueen should be placed in the ditch as a bottom layer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Place the first row of sandbags in ditch, fold visqueen\nover the top of first row, place a second row of bags on top, fold visqueen\nback over, place a third row of bags on top, and so on. This creates an\n&#8220;S&#8221; pattern with the visqueen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Depending on the size of the barrier, one or more\nsubmersible pumps should be used. The barrier will not completely stop water\nfrom entering the protected area.
