Publix Super Markets Inc. announced today it has signed a lease for a second store in Kentucky. Like the first Kentucky store, this location will be in Louisville, located at the northeast corner of Ballardsville Road and Brownsboro Road in Jefferson County. The Publix will feature a 55,701-square-foot Publix supermarket, including a drive-thru Publix Pharmacy and an adjacent 2,800-square-foot Publix Liquors offering beer, wine and spirits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The store is anticipated to open in the first quarter of 2024; a grand opening date has not yet been determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Publix CEO Todd Jones spoke on the supermarket chain\u2019s continued growth into the Commonwealth of Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are proud to be planting roots in Jefferson County and look forward to building lifelong relationships with our new customers,\u201d he said. \u201cWith two planned stores currently in development, we are excited to continue sharing our Publix culture and commitment to service with the Bluegrass State.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company announced its entry into Kentucky, its eighth state, in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to its website, Publix operates stores in seven states: Florida (831 stores), Georgia (195 stores), Alabama (81 stores), South Carolina (64 stores), Tennessee (51 stores), North Carolina (50 stores), and Virginia (19 stores). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the grocer operates nine distribution centers, and 11 manufacturing facilities throughout the Southeast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
