{"id":18672,"date":"2021-12-28T18:29:58","date_gmt":"2021-12-28T23:29:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=18672"},"modified":"2021-12-28T18:30:10","modified_gmt":"2021-12-28T23:30:10","slug":"bicyclist-struck-and-killed-by-minivan-near-auburndale-pcso-investigating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2021\/12\/28\/bicyclist-struck-and-killed-by-minivan-near-auburndale-pcso-investigating\/","title":{"rendered":"Bicyclist struck and killed by minivan near Auburndale; PCSO investigating"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 58-year old man on a bicycle was struck by a minivan Monday evening, December 27, 2021, while riding on Old Dixie Highway near Moss Road East in unincorporated Polk County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/police-line.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17055\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/police-line.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/police-line.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/police-line.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/police-line.jpg?w=1200&amp;ssl=1 1200w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded, along with Polk County Fire Rescue, after a 911 call was received at about 9:06 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bicyclist, identified as Scotty Ellison, suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Ellison was struck by a gray 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by 35-year old Cynthia Mahlan of Lakeland.
