{"id":19725,"date":"2022-02-01T12:45:13","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T17:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=19725"},"modified":"2022-02-01T13:15:37","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T18:15:37","slug":"did-you-know-105","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2022\/02\/01\/did-you-know-105\/","title":{"rendered":"Did you Know?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Paul Waldmiller<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you know that another Florida school employee, this time a principle was recently arrested for sending sexually explicit texts to an undercover detective posing as a teenage boy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Derrick-McLaughlin.jpg?resize=200%2C200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19726\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Derrick-McLaughlin.jpg?w=200&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Derrick-McLaughlin.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">41-year-old Derrick McLaughlin, a principle at Warren Hope Dawson Elementary School in Riverview, is alleged to have sent the sexually explicit text messages to detectives who were portraying themselves as a 15-year-old boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hillsborough County detectives say over the course of the investigation, McLaughlin attempted to entice the undercover detectives he believed was a teenager to engage in the sexual acts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detectives also stated that McLaughlin was charged with transmitting harmful material to a minor, unlawfully using a two-way communications device, and using computer services or devices to solicit illegal acts.
