The landfill had closed for the day, and employees were going through their daily procedures for shutting down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deceased is Aaron Henderson, 43, who was a traffic control contract employee at the Landfill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLast night\u2019s incident was a tragic accident,\u201d said Board Chair Martha Santiago. \u201cOur Board asks that you keep the family and friends of the deceased in your thoughts and prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the first fatality in the history of the North Central Landfill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Landfill is a dynamic, industrial environment with the movement of hundreds of trucks coming to unload and heavy equipment at the Landfill all day long,\u201d said County Manager Bill Beasley. \u201cWe have never experienced anything like this here.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An accident at the North Central Landfill on Friday evening took the life of a Polk County contract employee.
