{"id":21975,"date":"2022-04-28T15:22:27","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T19:22:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=21975"},"modified":"2022-04-28T15:22:32","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T19:22:32","slug":"1400-residences-planned-for-wedgewood-golf-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2022\/04\/28\/1400-residences-planned-for-wedgewood-golf-course\/","title":{"rendered":"1,400 Residences Planned for Wedgewood Golf Course"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">North Lakeland\u2019s 90-year-old Wedgewood Golf Course has been sold to developers who propose building nearly 1,400 homes \u2014 including more than 1,100 apartments \u2014 on the 117-acre property south of Lake Gibson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"674\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/gibson-trails-site-plan-sm.jpg?resize=1024%2C674&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21977\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/gibson-trails-site-plan-sm.jpg?w=1024&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/gibson-trails-site-plan-sm.jpg?resize=300%2C197&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/gibson-trails-site-plan-sm.jpg?resize=768%2C506&amp;ssl=1 768w\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mulberry-based&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/search.sunbiz.org\/Inquiry\/CorporationSearch\/SearchResultDetail?inquirytype=EntityName&amp;directionType=Initial&amp;searchNameOrder=SJDDEVELOPMENT%20L200002647280&amp;aggregateId=flal-l20000264728-1f708ca5-ab60-4215-803a-3f771b72b4c5&amp;searchTerm=SJD%20Development%20LLC&amp;listNameOrder=SJDDEVELOPMENT%20L200002647280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SJD Development LLC<\/a>&nbsp;purchased the golf course on Dec. 15 for $4.5 million from Kanes Golf of Florida LLC, owned by Sun Shin, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/polkpa.org\/CamaDisplay.aspx?OutputMode=Display&amp;SearchType=RealEstate&amp;ParcelID=232736000000011020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Polk County Property Appraisers Office records<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before the sale was recorded, a development application and project review application was filed in November by Lakeland attorney Robert Stanz on behalf of Jonathon Hall of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/shdproperties.com\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SHD Properties<\/a>, which has the same Church Street address in Mulberry as SJD Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed Gibson Trails project underwent initial reviews by city planners in December and went before a development review panel on April 12. The next step is to mail notifications to surrounding landowners, which are to be dispatched no later than Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposal is scheduled to go before the city\u2019s Planning &amp; Zoning Board for a May 17 public hearing and final vote on June 21. It could then go before the city commission in July and be approved by August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 10-page&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21748889\/wedgewood-vision-document-0122.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wedgewood Vision Document<\/a>&nbsp;presented to city planners by engineering firm Kimley-Horn\u2019s Lakeland and Orlando offices outlines the proposed redevelopment of 117 acres of Wedgewood Golf Course\u2019s \u201csegmented developable area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The preliminary \u201cresidential infill development\u201d proposal includes 11 parcels.
