The school district sent home letters to parents, saying they would see a lot more law enforcement on campus, moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"360\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 640 \/ 360;\" width=\"640\" controls src=\"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/6doNCllrvCWmYK9X.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd agrees with this change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHere\u2019s the hard-cold facts, the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,\u201d said Sheriff Judd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">News of the mass shooting on a school campus in Texas pierced an open wound; we\u2019ve seen dozens of mass shootings throughout the nation over the last few years and many parents are now concerned with their student\u2019s safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf teachers are willing and able, why not carry a concealed weapon,\u201d said Judd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Judd, who has always been a supporter of legal, concealed carry said allowing teachers to carry firearms can help prevent tragedies like we witnessed in Uvalde, Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI dropped my grandkids off at school today,\u201d said Judd. \u201cI take this very personal \u2013 your kids are my kids and keeping them safe is a priority for this department.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research shows that the person behind the gun of a mass shooting typically carries out their plan in just minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen someone dials 911 and says we have an emergency here, the emergency is already under way,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have research that shows active shooters arrive and finish their evil deeds in less than five minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">School in is session for another week, until summer break.
