Traffic is only one issue. They already ruled that they can\u2019t widen Lake Miriam Dr. it\u2019s not an option for multiple reasons. The other issues are they are building 1.6 parking spaces per each 3 bedroom unit. Parking is already a disaster at Lake Miriam plaza. Now they have to accommodate this overflow. That\u2019s not fair to those local businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kids from the middle school flood that sidewalk every day. It\u2019s a real safety issue. It\u2019s also a 43 foot tall building with a 15 foot setback. By contrast Publix is a 25 feet tall with a 250 foot set back. You will be able to see it from Mulberry. It will change the entire look and feel (fugly).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, Lake Miriam is so beautiful. It’s home to red tail foxes, owls, otters, birds, gators, etc. These transient residents won\u2019t be stewards of it the way Lakelanders have been for generations. They have approved several high-density housing projects recently in areas that make better sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have other options. In my opinion, this is a bad one. Why not take a pause and let our infrastructure catch up? Didn\u2019t we learn anything from Tampa and Orlando?
