This week, we received a call from a Polk County resident who wanted to say thank you to crew members at #PCFR<\/a> Kathleen Station 23. The resident, who explained that she is an elderly woman that lives alone in 55+ community, did not have the ability to check a fire alarm that began chirping on the recessed ceiling inside her home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With no one to turn to for assistance, the resident reached out to members at Kathleen Station 23 to ask for their help. When the Station 23 crew members arrived, they quickly realized that the fire alarm was manufactured in 1998 and needed to be replaced ASAP. The crew then took the time to assist the resident with selecting reliable, up-to-date fire alarms for her residence and told her to contact them back when she received them so the crew could install them for her. Once new alarms arrived, the resident called Station 23 back and a second crew responded to happily install them for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This small act of kindness is a great example of the type of care and service we strive to provide here at Polk County Fire Rescue. Thank you to the resident who shared the experience she had with the crew members at Kathleen Station 23 and THANK YOU to all of the awesome PCFR members who are going out in the field every day to do amazing things for the residents of Polk County<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
