The U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade has made women in our country 2nd class citizens once again. A right-wing, politicized court has reversed the 50-year precedent of protecting women\u2019s right to choose with regard to reproductive health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Catherine Price, Chair of the Polk County DEC said, \u201cThe lives of women will be put at risk because of lack of access to safe, legal abortions. In these difficult financial times, women will face tough choices as they try to buy food and pay rent. In desperation, many will again turn to back-alley abortions which can lead to infection, injury, and death. This is a great tragedy and a step backward for women in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On July 1st, abortion laws in Florida will change, banning abortion after 15 weeks with no exception for rape or incest. Republican lawmakers have said they will seek further restrictions depending on the Supreme Court ruling. Price said women can speak at the ballot box in November. She urged voters to seek out Democratic candidates that support women\u2019s right to choose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
