Florida Southern College women’s golf started its season off with a bang by dominating the first day of the Lady Falcon Invitational at the LPGA International Hills Course on Friday. The Moccasins found themselves atop the team leaderboard by a full nine strokes after firing a 294 in round one and a 309 in round two to end the day at 603 (+27), well ahead of second-place Tampa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amanda Gartrell<\/a> led the way by firing a 74-72-146 (+2) and sits atop the leaderboard with freshman Lacey Tucker<\/a> (+4) in second place after recording a 71-77-148 in her first collegiate tournament. Loren Perez<\/a> also finished in the top 10 by tying for fifth place after two rounds thanks to her 74-77-151 (+5_ showing in the first 36 holes of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nathalie Svensson<\/a> (+16) was tied for 20th at the end of the day after recording a 75-85-160, while Sun Hwang<\/a> (+17) was in 23rd after firing a 77-84-161. All eight teams in the tournament played 36 rounds on Friday rather than the previously scheduled 18, moving the final round to Saturday rather than Sunday in order to avoid the potential effects of a tropical depression that is expected to form into a tropical storm over the next 48 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
