Southern (1-1-1) defeated the visiting Limestone Saints 1-0 on Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The goal came on a set piece, as senior defender&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/lehland_claus_cto1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Claus Lehland<\/a>&nbsp;took a corner kick, and sent the ball high into the box. Diaz, who was tightly marked, elevated above his defender and headed the ball straight into the back of the net.<\/li><li>FSC continued to carry the pace of the match through the first half, and at intermission, the score remained 1-0.<\/li><li>In the second half, Limestone picked up their attack, peppering FSC keeper&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/faderl_phillip_cq8n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Philip Faderl<\/a>&nbsp;with 10 total shots. He stopped every shot on goal to earn his first shutout.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INSIDE THE NUMBERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For the match, Limestone took 12 total shots, including seven on frame. The resilient Faderl turned every single one, preserving the 1-0 victory.<\/li><li>FSC managed seven total shots for the match, with two on target.<\/li><li>For Diaz, it was the second goal of his career at Florida Southern. The first came last season, against Eckerd in October.<\/li><li>Lehland picked up his first assist of the season, and his fourth in the red and white.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QUOTING COACH CARLSON<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>On the goal scored by Diaz: &#8220;[Diaz] has put a lot of effort into getting better at set pieces, and it showed. And Lehland, with his left foot, can really put the ball just about anywhere he wants.<\/li><li>On the play of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/faderl_phillip_cq8n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Philip Faderl<\/a>, specifically in the second half: There were a couple saves, I still don&#8217;t know how he really made those saves.
