Satire

The City of Lakeland has embraced the fact that they are the largest homeless population in the state. With that said, it sounds negative but really it isn’t. Being homeless is just living “OFF GRID”. They just need some direction and help.

The council members have agreed to make their “OFF GRID” lifestyle easier by helping in a few areas.

Lake Mirror will have new bathroom facilities behind the giant metal gates overlooking the lake. There will be a men’s room and a ladies’ room, both equipped with showers. In the center, there will be a washer and dryer that will be $1.00 each. They decided that panhandling can afford this cost, I mean an “OFF GRID” lifestyle. These facilities will only be open from dusk to dawn. This gives their community time together after a long day of begging, I mean working, in the hot sun.

The city council members are also discussing turning Lake Mirror into a community pool. There will be an admission to the pool for those who work and pay taxes. The ducks will be moved to Lake Morton and Lake Hollingsworth. The renovation is just a great source of revenue for the city. The pool will be open from dusk to dawn for the “OFF GRID” community too. We cannot discriminate! But, they will use the pool at no cost. It’s a perk for their “OFF GRID” lifestyle. Lifeguards will only be on duty during daylight hours only.

The city council has also agreed that all downtown restaurants must dispose of all leftover foods in individual serving containers and be placed in a refrigerated unit outside the back door of their restaurants. Pick time will be between 9 pm -11 pm. The “OFF GRID” lifestyle needs to be fed, so let’s pitch in and help them.

The city council members are also looking into a program where Lakelanders can get a tax break if they set up 2 tents on their front lawn for those living “OFF GRID”. It’s like an Airbnb but at no cost. Drug testing kits will be distributed to the homeowners to test those living “OFF GRID” for safety measures. The hours for tent accommodations will be from 9 pm until 6 am.

""

Lakeland is a community that loves those who want to live “OFF GRID” and have that unique Florida experience.

""

The Mayor loves Lakeland and his vote will be for everyone because he is “ALL IN”.
