Polk County<\/a> deputies have arrested five people they say were involved in multiple car break-ins in Lakeland.<\/p>\n\n\n

The sheriff’s office was investigating 24 car burglaries reported this week in the Highland City area \u2014 eight reported Monday and 16 more reported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of the burglaries reportedly happened in the area of Central Avenue SE along with 1st and 2nd Avenue SE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, the sheriff’s office said a 20-year-old and four teens were arrested in connection to 33 burglaries in the area. Investigators plan to release more information later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the items stolen was a rifle with a scope and ammo and a woman’s purse with her identification and credit cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a cash reward of up to $3,000 for information about this case. Details can be reported to Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS, or contact Polk County Detective Hannon at 893-499-2400.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
