Dear Lakelanders,\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like you, I am a staunch defender of the unborn. I was thrilled when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of life in the recent Dobbs ruling. As you may know, I also opposed efforts by House Democrats last fall to codify abortion rights in federal law. Thankfully, the Senate failed to pass this horrific bill. Sadly, in light of the recent Court ruling, a new version of the same abortion on demand bill was brought up for a vote again last week – I again voted no.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This radical bill would allow for the death of unborn babies up to the point of birth. It would also override even the most modest pro-life legislation passed by states, usurping their authority to govern their own affairs. This bill was again deceptively titled the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act. Protecting the unborn is not an attack on women\u2019s health care, but an affirmation of life. While it passed the House, I remain hopeful that it will again fail should it come up for a vote in the Senate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
