\u00a0After eight years as the Head Coach of Florida Southern College Women’s Basketball, Betsy Harris has stepped down from her position, announced on Aug. 4.

Under her direction, the Moccasins were 159-63 over the eight seasons with six NCAA postseason appearances including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2015-16. The three-time Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year coached five All-Americans and seven all-South Region selections while seeing 13 All-SSC honorees in eight years at the helm.

The Moccasins under Harris’ directions won back-to-back SSC titles in 2018 and 2019, earning her the 2018-19 WBCA South Region Coach of the Year. With her guidance, two Mocs finished their careers in the top-10 scorers in program history, Camille Giardina, third (1929 points), and Anja Fuchs-Robetin, eighth (1677 points).

Harris’ teams have historically lit up the scoreboard with her Florida Southern teams ranking top-50 nationally in scoring on multiple occasions, including ranking 18th nationally in 2018-19 with over 77 points per game.

Florida Southern has tabbed\u00a0Megan Dzikas<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, the interim head coach for the 2022-23 season. Dzikas, a Bradenton, Fla. native and a 2012 graduate of FSC, was a four-year standout on the hardwood for the Mocs where she was a two-time All-SSC student-athlete and helped lead Florida Southern to an 87-31 record including a 49-9 mark in league play.

Dzikas has been a member of the Moccasins staff since 2019-20 and has been a part of 44 wins over three seasons with 31 wins in SSC play.

The Moccasins\u00a0are returning six players and are bringing in seven newcomers<\/a>\u00a0to the team on the quest for the program’s first national title. Florida Southern looks to be a favorite in the SSC where the Mocs look to build on its’ 26 titles.
