The deed book includes records dating back to 1861 when Polk County was established. It was the deed transaction between <a><\/a>Jacob Summerlin and the County Commissioners of Polk County in 1866 when Summerlin donated 40 acres to the County for the establishment of the county seat in Bartow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The preservation of this book is part of a much larger project the Clerk has underway, which is digitizing the county\u2019s historic deed books back to the establishment of the county in 1861.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is one of Clerk Butterfield&#8217;s main priorities to digitize all our records and make them easily accessible online.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week Clerk Butterfield presented Polk County\u2019s first deed book fully preserved to the citizens of Polk County at the Board of County Commissioners meeting.
