On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, PCSO detectives arrested\n31-year-old Dennis Jones, Jr., who was hired as a PCSO deputy sheriff in July\n2013 and became a detective in October 2017, for two counts public servant\nfalsifying official records (F-3), one count forgery (F-3), and one count\nuttering false instrument (F-3). He resigned immediately upon his arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the\ninvestigation, Jones, in his capacity as a detective, included within a PCSO\nreport two falsified waivers of prosecution. The May 2019 investigation was\nrelated to two juveniles involved in a relationship, during which Jones wrote,\n\u201cboth parents requested to sign waivers.\u201d Jones included that he had responded\nto two different homes to obtain the signed waivers from the male and female\njuveniles\u2019 parents. In August 2019, during a follow-up by another detective,\nboth parents provided sworn statements that neither had met with Jones, nor had\nthey signed waivers of prosecution. One family provided doorbell camera footage\nshowing that nobody visited their home on the date in question. The other\nfamily provided proof that they had moved prior to the date Jones wrote he had\nvisited their home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate\ninvestigation related to an alleged improper disciplining of a student at a\ndaycare during August 2019, Jones included in his report that he met with the\ndaycare director, a teacher\u2019s assistant, and several students. During a\nfollow-up by another detective, the director and the teacher\u2019s assistant\nprovided sworn statements that they never met with Jones, and provided video\nfootage and cell phone records confirming they did not speak with him on the\nphone, nor did he come to their homes or daycare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jones was taken into\ncustody on September 17th<\/sup> and booked into the Polk County Jail.\nHe did not provide detectives with an explanation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
