In North Lakeland, the Parks Department cleared 68 trees.<\/li><li><strong>276<\/strong>\u00a0transformers blew\u00a0in the area.<\/li><li><strong>78 mph<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 That\u2019s\u00a0how fast wind speeds were\u00a0during the storm\u2019s peak hours Wednesday night and Thursday morning on Oct. 28 and 29.<\/li><li><strong>40<\/strong>\u00a0FEMA trucks\u00a0were contracted\u00a0by the county to collect debris.<\/li><li><strong>35<\/strong>\u00a0Waffle House locations\u00a0closed\u00a0throughout the state.<\/li><li><strong>25<\/strong>\u00a0trees were cleared from Cleveland Heights Golf Course,\u00a0<em>plus acres worth of debris.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>18<\/strong>\u00a0Polk County Public Schools\u00a0opened\u00a0as temporary hurricane shelters.<\/li><li><strong>10.8 ft<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 That\u2019s how high the Peace River had\u00a0risen to\u00a0by Sun., Oct. 2.\u00a0Its record depth is 11.1 ft.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With last week\u2019s hurricane behind us, here\u2019s a brief look at&nbsp;Hurricane Ian\u2019s impact on the Lakeland area.
