It\u2019s been good to us \u2014 it\u2019s been where Publix is headquartered,\u201d said Barney Barnett. \u201cSo we\u2019ve always felt an obligation to give back to this community, and this was one way to do that \u2014 in a big way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But&nbsp;Jenkins Barnett won\u2019t get to see the park completed \u2014 she passed away in December 2021 from complications due to early onset Alzheimer\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m sad she won\u2019t be here \u2014 but she\u2019ll be here in spirit with us,\u201d said Barnett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The privately held land also boasts an event center, art installations and children\u2019s museum.&nbsp;The project \u201cbuilding budget\u201d is about $130 million.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new&nbsp;Bonnet Springs Park&nbsp;is opening Saturday with a two-day celebration.
