It was the conference opener for both programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Florida Southern dominated the game&#8217;s opening minutes, pressuring the visiting Sailfish. FSC (1-2-2) was whistled for an offsides violation just five minutes in, before earning a corner kick in the ninth minute of the contest.<\/li><li>The Mocs continued to play stalwart defense, countering PBA (4-0-1) whenever possible.<\/li><li>In the 44<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;minute, the counter-attack of the Red and White paid off. Senior&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/ling-vannerus_jacob_qwvp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jacob Ling-Vannerus<\/a>&nbsp;took advantage of a misplay on the PBA back line, setting up a 1 v 1 with the keeper. With PBA&#8217;s last line of defense charging hard, Ling-Vannerus deftly slid the ball past the keeper and into the lower right corner of the goal.<\/li><li>As the second half began, both teams had opportunities, probing deep into the attack zone, only to be thwarted defensively.<\/li><li>Eventually PBA broke through. At the 73:49 mark, Charlie Lewis headed a Gian Scalise pass past&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/faderl_phillip_cq8n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Philip Faderl<\/a>&nbsp;to knot the game at one apiece.<\/li><li>The game began to get testy, as yellow cards started to accumulate.<\/li><li>In the first overtime, PBA has the strongest opportunity as Claudio Rivadeneira found himself in front of an open FSC goal during a scrum, only to have his best effort cleared off the goal line by&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/santiago_duvan_6nkq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Santiago Erazo<\/a>.<\/li><li>In the second overtime, an inspired PBA club pressed hard, but the Mocs back line stiffened.<\/li><li>Of note defensively for the Mocs tonight were&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/appiah_foster_qcgz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Foster Appiah<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/santiago_duvan_6nkq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Santiago Erazo<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/lehland_claus_cto1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Claus Lehland<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/phillips_henry_aby9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Henry Phillips<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INSIDE THE NUMBERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Florida Southern is 1-0-1 in matches played at Moccasin Field this season.<\/li><li>The Red and White are 0-1-1 against ranked opponents in 2019.<\/li><li>Ling-Vannerus scored his first goal of the year, and tenth as a member of the Moccasins.<\/li><li>Mocs keeper Faderl had an intense evening between the posts. He faced 13 total shots, though only two were on frame.<\/li><li>FSC&#8217;s attack managed 13 shots as well, placing six on frame.<\/li><li>Four Mocs played all 110 minutes: Appiah, Phillips, Erazo, and Faderl.<\/li><li>Four Mocs were booked with Yellow Cards, as opposed to only one for the Sailfish<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UP NEXT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florida Southern makes a short trip up I-4 to face the Rollins College Tars on Wednesday night, Sept. 25.
