A strong showing from Loren Perez<\/a> and Lacey Tucker<\/a> helped Florida Southern College women’s golf pick up a second-place finish at the Battle at Old South over the weekend. The Moccasins finished +12 (588) as a team, while Perez fired a -1 (143) to tie for second among all 79 individuals and Tucker finished even (144) in just her second collegiate tournament to take fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amanda Gartrell<\/a> carded a +8 (152) to tie for 24th and round out the Mocs’ scorers who finished in the top 25. Sun Hwang<\/a> shot +5 (149) to tie for 13th with teammate Nathalie Svensson<\/a>, who was competing as an individual. Hannah Rizzolo, also competing as an individual, tied for 55th with a +15 (159) and Shelby Lewis<\/a> came in 63rd with a +18 (162). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee finished as the team champion thanks to a +4 (588) effort as a team, while tournament champion Carson McKie (-5) paced the Flames and teammate Haverly Harrold (-1) tied for second. The field included three of the top 25 teams in the latest WGCA Coaches Poll in Lee (No. 14), Florida Southern (No. 15), and Flagler (No 21).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florida Southern’s second-place finish at this year’s Battle at Old South marks the second-straight year that the Moccasins have finished in second place, but the team showed marked improvement by finishing nine shots better than it did a year ago at Old South Golf Links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
