A dog named Prince has been reunited with his\nowner after he was found running in and out of traffic on I-4 Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The moment was one Evelyn Zayas wasn’t sure\nshe’d get.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I just didn’t think I was gonna see him\nagain,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zayas says she is a homeless veteran and that\nher dog, Prince, is an emotional support animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are survivors,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Friday, she says he got spooked by noise\nfrom equipment and ran out of an open gate on the property where they were\nstaying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later in the day, Florida Highway Patrol\ntroopers responded to a dog running in and out of traffic on I-4. They rescued\nhim from along the westbound I-4 ramp to northbound I-275.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“So someone probably picked him up, maybe\nwanted to keep him maybe was trying to find the proper place to take him, but\nunfortunately made the decision to let him loose on the highway, and it does\nhappen quite frequently ” Kimberly Valdiviezo, the lead technician for the\nshelter department at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization was treating the dog and\ninitially called him Lightning for his speed zipping around the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said they put the information on social\nmedia and the owner got in touch Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“She provided proof with pictures that it\nwas him and then we brought him out and he came out of his shell, like he\nwanted to jump into her arms, go immediately to her so we trusted that this was\nher pet.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
