Medina is employed as a correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Complex in Coleman (Sumter County).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"414\" height=\"512\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/eric-medina.jpg?resize=414%2C512&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28581\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/eric-medina.jpg?w=414&amp;ssl=1 414w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/eric-medina.jpg?resize=243%2C300&amp;ssl=1 243w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the affidavit, Medina was at a party with friends in Davenport and was asked to leave at around 2:00 a.m. when he became heavily intoxicated and began arguing with the attendees. The argument turned physical when Medina grabbed a female victim \u201cby the left arm against her will, leaving scratch marks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The victim told deputies that \u201ceveryone was drinking and having a good time when the suspect started acting weird.\u201d She tried to calm Medina down, and that is when he grabbed her arm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIt is never alright to physically hurt someone, and as an officer at a federal correctional facility, Mr. Medina knew better.
