{"id":28810,"date":"2023-01-11T18:02:15","date_gmt":"2023-01-11T23:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=28810"},"modified":"2023-01-11T18:02:35","modified_gmt":"2023-01-11T23:02:35","slug":"what-do-you-want-to-see-in-munn-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2023\/01\/11\/what-do-you-want-to-see-in-munn-park\/","title":{"rendered":"What do you want to see in Munn Park?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The City of Lakeland will host a series of public forums to gain public input as we start the planning process to revitalize the Munn Park area.&nbsp; Consulting park planners want to hear from you on what active recreation uses the public would like to see in Munn Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1110\" height=\"1110\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/f463aa6f-8bb2-4463-9199-764dab154971-Munn_Park_1.webp?resize=1110%2C1110&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28814\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first public forum was on January 10, 2023, and only 51 people attended<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next forum will take place in the Magnolia Building located at 702 East Orange Street, Lakeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thursday, January 12, 2023,&nbsp;&nbsp; 3 p.m. \u2013 5 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following a professional development trip to Carmel, Indiana City Manager Shawn Sherrouse brought back some ideas and concepts that were part of that community\u2019s pedestrian-based planned development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCarmel incorporated a number of active uses around their town square, and I immediately thought about Lakeland and our own downtown,\u201d said Sherrouse. \u201cWe continue to look at ways to improve the experience our citizens and guests have when they visit downtown.&nbsp; The goal is to have year-round activity with a mixture of recreational uses in Munn Park.&nbsp; Over the past few years, we have introduced some really cool elements that helped create a downtown identity and we want that same excitement to spill over into our town square.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The City of Lakeland invested in decorative string lights crisscrossing downtown streets, drip lights were installed in the trees at Munn Park, and sidewalks were expanded to allow for outdoor dining. We are working with Pennoni, a landscape architecture and engineering consultant in bringing that front lawn to life.
