After two overtime periods, Polk State and Broward College ended in a scoreless tie today in Lakeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the 110-minute defensive struggle concluded, the Eagles finished with 11 shots and six goalkeeper saves, while the Seahawks tallied 13 shots and five saves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Broward looked like it might break the tie in the final minutes of regulation, but goalkeeper Celeste Chiles made a diving save, knocking a shot away from the corner of the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head Coach Steve Linamen said he was pleased with his team\u2019s effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOverall, they kept their heads straight and stayed in it, even through double overtime. We just have to finish our chances. We had a couple of solid chances where we should have put the ball in the net and we didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut we\u2019re slowly progressing as we finish this first round of regional team play, and I think that will have us in a much better position in the second half.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
