Welcome back to A Taste of Real Estate!  I am excited to introduce most of you for the first time to the world of Barndominiums!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The term Barndominium \u2026 is a blend of the words barn and condominium! It is a residential building that combines living spaces with an open floor plan that can be used for anything up to small start-up home businesses or extra living quarters for individuals with large families. \u201cBarndos\u2019 are more energy efficient, cost efficient and can vary in size, location and design, also making them construction efficient. Because of their steel frame they are also resistant to weather and fire damage. Even the homeowners insurance averages less on these structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the key features of barndominiums are the high ceilings and large bay windows which can allow access to breathtaking views with lots of sunshine, three car garages, wrap-around porches,loads of kitchen and dining room, living and storage spaces. Most sites will offer Barndominium kits which individuals can customize to fit unique requirements. This is a major advantage and a huge benefit for the home buyer or small business owner who instead of conforming their lifestyle and possessions to fit a readymade home, can now have the option of having their home accommodate all their belongings while still being able to comfortably convert some of the living spaces\/rooms into an office or storage space for their business demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average cost of a barndominium per foot ranges from $18-$23 per square foot but even with conversion costs, that’s still a far cry from the average $295,300 sales price of a home in the United States<\/a>.The USDA even offers loans for certain individuals who qualify to help with the building of Barndominiums and there are grants available to those wishing to purchase tracts of farmland in order to build a barndo. Buyers\u2019 only responsibility would be to seek out that perfect spot to build their new home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
