Jamie Calhoun<\/a>, Tanguy Daillaind, and Valentina Gonzalez<\/a> continued their dominance on the water as Florida Southern College water ski finished second at the NCWSA Southern\/Atlantic Coastal Region Championships to advance to next month’s NCWSA National Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mocs finished second on both the men’s and women’s side, leading to second-straight silver medal at the event. Gonzalez paced Florida Southern’s women with an individual victory in the jump while on the men’s side, Calhoun won the slalom and Daillaind won the trick competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Men:
<\/strong>The Moccasin men won the trick portion of the event and finished second in the slalom and jump. Calhoun picked up 2.5 buoys at 39.5 off to win the slalom and Dailland tallied 5,570 points in the trick competition, more than 1,500 ahead of his nearest competitor. Alabama finished first in tricks and jumps to earn the gold, finishing just 615 total points ahead of Southern. Rollins was a distant third with 4,380 total points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other top finishers for Florida Southern included Austen Caffey<\/a>, who finished third in the trick and ninth in the jump, along with his rother Hayden (fifth) and teammate Charles Gaharan (9th). Gaharan also took seventh in the jump, while Dailland was fifth. Overall, Dailland tallied three top-five finished to finish as the top overall skier on the men’s side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women:
<\/strong>The Florida Southern women were paced by Gonzalez’s win in the jump. She posted a mark of 141 feet (42.9 meters) to defend her regional title in the women’s jump. She also posted top-five finishes in the trick and slalom to finish second overall on the women’s side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, the Mocs took second in all three individual competitions to finish behind Alabama as the runner-up. Rollins was a distant third on the women’s side as well. Other top finishers for Southern included Allie Nicholson<\/a> (2nd) in the slalom, Josefa Gonzalez<\/a> (2nd) in the trick, and Tianna Kosek<\/a> (3rd) in the jump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
