{"id":32206,"date":"2023-05-16T13:16:08","date_gmt":"2023-05-16T17:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=32206"},"modified":"2023-05-16T13:16:12","modified_gmt":"2023-05-16T17:16:12","slug":"lakeland-pd-vehicles-to-get-a-makeover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2023\/05\/16\/lakeland-pd-vehicles-to-get-a-makeover\/","title":{"rendered":"Lakeland PD Vehicles to Get a Makeover"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lakeland Police Department\u2019s patrol vehicles are going to look a little different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"702\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/LPD-new-cars.webp?resize=1024%2C702&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32207\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current black-and-white vehicles have reached the end of their service lives and they will be replaced with all-black vehicles with simplified graphics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police Chief Sam Taylor told the City Commission on Monday that Lakeland can save about $3,000 per vehicle by having the cars be a solid color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA lot of people don\u2019t know that you can\u2019t order a black-and-white car from the factory,\u201d Taylor said. \u201cYou either have to order all-black and then send it directly to the paint shop to have the doors painted white, or you have to order all-white and send it to the paint shop and have the fenders and such painted black.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0\u201cWe had 35 Tahoes fall into our lap from a sheriff\u2019s office in Georgia that they weren\u2019t able to buy,\u201d Taylor said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With supply chain issues still plaguing the auto industry, it was too good a deal to pass up. Working with city Finance Director Mike Brossart, the department was able to find the funds to buy the vehicles a bit earlier than planned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lakeland Police Department\u2019s patrol vehicles are going to look a little different.
