Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law to penalize businesses and people who admit children into \u201cadult live performances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1110\" height=\"740\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/let-kids-be-kids-desantis-signing-2.webp?resize=1110%2C740&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32240\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move comes after venues in Florida allowed children to attend drag shows with \u201csexual\u201d content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese drag shows, sexually explicit in what they\u2019re doing,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposal was introduced by Rep. Randy Fine, R-Melbourne Beach, in the House and by Sen. Clay Yarborough, R-Jacksonville, in the Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yarborough used his time to thank the governor for his leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs a dad of young children myself, I know you understand how important it is for parents to know what is going on with their children,\u201d Yarborough said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fine reiterated, like he did during the floor debates, that \u201cthere is evil in this world and we are fighting it here today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe fight that we have had here in Florida is about the fundamental nature of childhood itself,\u201d Fine said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The law authorizes Florida to fine, suspend, or revoke the license of any public establishment that admits a child to \u201cadult live performances\u201d that depict or simulate nudity, sexual conduct, or lewd exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Violating the rules would result in a first-degree misdemeanor, according to the text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe needed the legislature to come in and really, really clarify that if you are an establishment that\u2019s having adult performances, you have an obligation to make sure that these young kids are not permitted in the premises, and we\u2019re gonna hold you accountable,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Momma Ashley Rose stated on Facebook<\/strong>: HB 1438-Anti drag bill has been signed..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. It does not say drag in the bill, even if DeSantis and other say it does it DOES NOT say drag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Family-friendly drag is still legal no matter what anyone says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On that note be aware of your surroundings your audience and entertainers please for the love of god thing before you step out on stage in how you perform\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This will not help the gate people will still spew hate and threats. Be safe and aware!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s not let hate win!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"We went to a drag brunch for kids\" width=\"1110\" height=\"624\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dSNyO2SfONA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It allows the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to suspend or revoke an alcoholic beverage license if a child has been admitted to one of these performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In early February, DeSantis\u2019 office&nbsp;said&nbsp;Florida is \u201crevoking\u201d the Orlando Philharmonic Plaza Foundation\u2019s liquor license after a \u201csexual\u201d drag show permitted entry to minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The department said the venue exposed and promoted lewd, obscene, and sexual acts to minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state is&nbsp;revoking&nbsp;the Hyatt Regency Miami\u2019s alcohol license for the same reasons, according to an announcement earlier in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The governor also signed bills to prohibit pronoun use requirements in schools and require separate bathrooms based on biological sex in certain facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDeSantis has just signed into law the largest slate of anti-LGBTQ bills in one legislative session in the state\u2019s history,\u201d said\u00a0Joe Saunders, Senior Political Director of Equality Florida.\u00a0\u201cThis is an all-out attack on freedom. Free states don\u2019t strip parents of the right to make healthcare decisions for their children.
