This award is presented to a deserving airport that has completed an outstanding project during the preceding two calendar years prior to the Annual Chapter Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This $13.5+ million dollar project included: the demolition of the existing MALSR approach lighting system and installation of a new ALSF-2 approach lighting system (including its support building); relocation of Taxiway P (Papa) making way for the new touchdown RVR (Runway Visual Range Sensor) and Glide Slope facilities; construction of a new airfield electrical lighting vault; installation of runway centerline, touchdown, and lead-on\/off lights; installation of elevated runway guard lights; and re-designation of Runway 09-27 to Runway 10-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the system\u2019s commissioning, LAL is only the fourth (4<sup>th<\/sup>) airport in the State of Florida and sixty-eighth (68<sup>th<\/sup>) nationally with low visibility operational capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The award was announced on May 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, 2023 during a general session of the SEC-AAAE Annual Conference in Richmond, VA.
