{"id":32709,"date":"2023-06-07T23:02:09","date_gmt":"2023-06-08T03:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=32709"},"modified":"2023-06-07T23:02:14","modified_gmt":"2023-06-08T03:02:14","slug":"affordable-connectivity-program-helps-conquer-the-digital-divide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2023\/06\/07\/affordable-connectivity-program-helps-conquer-the-digital-divide\/","title":{"rendered":"Affordable Connectivity Program Helps Conquer The Digital Divide"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The City of Lakeland is informing Lakeland citizens of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). &nbsp;ACP is a federal benefit program providing discounted cost toward Internet services to eligible households through the Federal Communications Commission.&nbsp;The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands.&nbsp;The Connectivity program qualifies households based on income and other factors.&nbsp;Any&nbsp;member of your household can make your household eligible if they participate in one of the programs below. For example, if&nbsp;your child or dependent&nbsp;participates in the Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or is enrolled in a USDA Community Eligibility Provision school, your household qualifies for the ACP benefit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"361\" height=\"134\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 361px) 100vw, 361px\" src=\"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/download-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32710\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/download-1.png 361w, https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/download-1-300x111.png 300w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Federal Assistance Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You are eligible for the ACP if you (or someone in your household) participate in one of these programs:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medicaid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supplemental Security Income (SSI)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA) (including Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program (Section 8 Vouchers), Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA)\/202\/811, Public Housing, and Affordable Housing Programs for American Indians, Alaska Natives or Native Hawaiians)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program, including at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Community Eligibility Provision schools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Received a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price. The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly discount&nbsp;for internet service&nbsp;and one device discount per household. Qualifications to become an eligible recipient of the benefit program can be found at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.affordableconnectivity.gov\/do-i-qualify\/\">www.affordableconnectivity.gov<\/a>.
