The high-flying Polk State Eagles defeated the Eastern Florida Titans 3-0<\/a> tonight on Sophomore Night in Winter Haven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the contest, sophomores Milexa Cardona, Mariane Cassiano, Nina Finderle, and Aixa Vigil received on-court recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSophomore leadership is the key to this program,\u201d said Head Coach German Del Valle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe train with our sophomores during the spring to make sure they keep our culture going.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The four sophomores have also played key roles in the success of this year\u2019s team, says Del Valle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMariane is an an All American, and Aixa is a really good player who often doesn\u2019t get enough credit. Nina has been really helpful for us, especially at the net, and Milexa, who came here with Division I experience, has been awesome for us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the victory (25-12, 25-12, 25-17), the Eagles (No. 1 FCSAA\/NJCAA) improve to 18-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardona recorded 20 assists, three kills, and four digs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cassiano tallied 10 digs, six kills, a block, and an ace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vigil made 11 kills, seven digs, two assists, and a block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finderle added five kills, two digs, and two blocks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manuela Ibarguen had 10 kills, seven digs, two blocks, an assist, and an ace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mariana Donado finished with nine assists and a dig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suared Molina made 12 digs and five assists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valentina Bahamon contributed five kills, four blocks, and a dig, while Nicole Kuchma added two digs and an ace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eagles return to action Tuesday when they travel to Ocala for a 7 p.m. match with Central Florida (14-4, No. 6 FCSAA).
