As of 6-20-23 at <\/strong>7:34 am Traffic Alert Alachua County: A overturned tractor-trailer and subsequent chemical spill on I-75 at the 391 mile marker has all traffic stopped in both directions. All southbound traffic is being routed off at the  399 mm \/ (US Hwy 441 High Springs exit) and all northbound traffic is being routed off at the 390 mm \/ SR 222 exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

***The chemical spill assessment and cleanup operation time may take as long as 12 hours. Motorists should avoid the area until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPDATE As of 6-20-23 at 1:00 pm  <\/strong>Chemical cleanup efforts<\/strong> continue at the scene of the earlier tractor-tanker trailer crash. When the combination overturned, it spilled its load of liquid Styrene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This incident began just before 6:00 am on the southbound side of I-75, with rain present at the time. Further investigation revealed that two tractor-trailers, two pickup trucks, one SUV, and one passenger vehicle were involved. \u00a0At this time it appears that a vehicle that hydroplaned began the series of reactions and collisions. \u00a0The\u00a0projected reopening\u00a0of the roadway (depending on weather conditions, available equipment, and manpower for the chemical removal and then the removal of all vehicles involved) is tentatively 5:00 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
