The McDonald\u2019s meals at a Connecticut location are going viral for all the wrong reasons \u2014 and no, it has nothing to do with the disturbing Grimace Birthday Meal TikTok trend.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meals \u2014 which included a Big Mac combo and a Quarter Pounder combo \u2014 were selling for $17.59 (Big Mac meal) and $17.99 (Quarter Pounder meal) at a McDonald\u2019s restaurant on Interstate 95 in the town of Darien, photos shared by Twitter user Sam Learner appeared to show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just a Big Mac alone was going for $8.29, according to Learner\u2019s photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cThis was at a rest stop, but these McDonald\u2019s prices are nuts right???\u201d Learner wrote in his Twitter post,<\/a> which has been viewed over 300,000 times since it was posted on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also provided a link to the restaurant\u2019s online menu, so other users could \u201csee\/gawk at the prices for yourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photos have since sparked outrage on Twitter, though some noted that McDonald\u2019s prices at highway rest stops are always inflated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes its nuts. But! How much is the rent for his location at this rest stop[?]\u201d one user asked.<\/a> \u201cThat\u2019s probably where the money is going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t pay half that for any McDonald\u2019s hamburger or combo meals,\u201d another said.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to McCheapest <\/a>\u2014 a website that tracks the price of a Big Mac at every McDonald\u2019s location across the country \u2014 the cost of a Big Mac at a northbound I-95 rest stop in Darien is about $8. But as Learner claimed, the specific restaurant he visited was on the southbound side, and its price ($8.29) is not currently listed on McCheapest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many restaurant prices on McCheapest were also last updated in February, so it\u2019s unclear if the pricing information on the platform is still accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even still, the prices at the Darien location where Learner allegedly too the photo appeared to be quite steep all around, according to its online menu (via the McDonald\u2019s app). That particular location also charges $18.29 for a 10-piece McNuggets meal, and $8.99 for a children\u2019s hamburger Happy Meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nexstar\u2019s WTNH reached out to the restaurant to confirm the menu prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the company\u2019s website<\/a>, McDonald\u2019s allows its franchisees to set their own prices on menu items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
