Approximately 12,000 individuals in Florida and 400,000 nationally have Down syndrome and research, early intervention, and quality medical care have resulted in&nbsp;dramatic improvements in the lifespan and potential of those who are affected. Individuals with Down syndrome contribute greatly to the state of Florida and play active roles in their communities.
