The Moccasins (3-11, 1-6 SSC) lost the match to the Fighting Knights (12-3, 5-2 SSC) by only nine points total, including a 26-24 second set and a 25-22 third set. The Mocs will finish their two-game homestand on Saturday as they host Nova Southeastern at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>After a 4-4 start to the first set, the Fighting Knights began to pull away with an 11-4 run that gave them a 15-8 lead. Despite four straight points from the home side, Lynn kept Florida Southern just out of reach to take a 25-21 second-set win.<\/li><li>The second set featured fourteen tie scores and five lead changes as the Moccasins and Fighting Knights battled. After trailing 10-9, Lynn mounted a 6-1 run to lead 15-11. The Mocs retaliated with a 5-1 run of their own, and from there the two squads were never separated by more than three points. FSC had match point at 24-23, but three-straight points from Lynn on two kills and a Moc error gave the away side a hotly-contested 26-24 second-set win.<\/li><li>The third set saw an even closer contest than the previous flurry, with 16 tie scores and six lead changes throughout the set. After an 18-18 tie score, the Mocs benefited from three Lynn errors to threaten with a 22-20 scoreline. Lynn, however, ended the set with six-straight points on two FSC errors and three kills to take the third set, 25-22, and the match, 3-0.<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wvball\/2019-20\/bios\/porter_tierra_56pc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tierra Porter<\/a>&nbsp;led the Mocs with nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage, followed by&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wvball\/2019-20\/bios\/bondar_olena\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lena Bondar<\/a>&nbsp;with seven and three other Mocs with six kills (<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wvball\/2019-20\/bios\/matthews_raeley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Raeley Matthews<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wvball\/2019-20\/bios\/ene_buse_m62u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Buse Ene<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wvball\/2019-20\/bios\/martin_rachael_sn2z\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rachael Martin<\/a>). Freshman Matthews led the team with eleven digs. FSC out-blocked Lynn seven to six, led by Porter (3) and Ene (3).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INSIDE THE NUMBERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Moccasins still lead the all-time series with a 33-12 record. At home the Mocs are now 18-5 all-time against the Fighting Knights.<\/li><li>There were four Mocs with double-digit digs: Matthews (11),&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wvball\/2019-20\/bios\/ronda_erica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Erica Ronda<\/a>&nbsp;(10),&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wvball\/2019-20\/bios\/williams_hailey_bt5r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hailey Williams<\/a>&nbsp;(10) and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wvball\/2019-20\/bios\/garza_mika\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mika Garza<\/a>&nbsp;(10) additionally helped the Mocs tie the mark for most digs in a three-set match for the season (53).<\/li><li>The seven blocks tallied by the Mocs are the most for the team this season in a three-set match.<\/li><li>The 34 kills are tied for second-most this season in a three-set match, with the previous mark set against Florida Tech on Sept. 28.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UP NEXT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Mocs will finish their two-game homestand on Saturday as they host Nova Southeastern at 4 p.m.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Southern College volleyball battled fiercely against conference heavyweight Lynn University but lost a tightly-contested 3-0 match on Friday night at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House.
