{"id":37275,"date":"2023-10-17T12:33:43","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T16:33:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=37275"},"modified":"2023-10-17T12:33:47","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T16:33:47","slug":"lakeland-man-hides-in-drawers-and-uses-whiteboard-to-evade-deputies-pcso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2023\/10\/17\/lakeland-man-hides-in-drawers-and-uses-whiteboard-to-evade-deputies-pcso\/","title":{"rendered":"Lakeland man hides in drawers and uses whiteboard to evade deputies: PCSO"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Lakeland man tried to evade deputies through \u2026 unconventional means when they tried to arrest him for aggravated battery, the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"393\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-5.jpeg?resize=580%2C393&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37276\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-5.jpeg?w=580&amp;ssl=1 580w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-5.jpeg?resize=300%2C203&amp;ssl=1 300w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sheriff\u2019s office said at about 2:45 p.m. Saturday, deputies went looking for Johnny Yates, 41, at a home on West 10th Street, only to be greeted by a whiteboard with the message \u201cJohnny Yates does NOT live here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seems legit, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, the deputies didn\u2019t think so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sheriff\u2019s office said deputies saw a person leaving the home, who told them that Johnny was inside with several other people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deputies used a loudspeaker to command Yates to leave the home, but after about an hour, they used smoke to get the occupants to get out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After still getting no response, deputies used a K9 to search the home. The sheriff\u2019s office said the dog sniffed out Yates, who was hiding \u201cin a modified chest of drawers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputies said Yates and four other people who did not cooperate were arrested in the incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Lakeland man tried to evade deputies through \u2026 unconventional means when they tried to arrest him for aggravated battery, the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.
