Troopers reported Jones \u201crecklessly\u201d weaving through traffic and reaching speeds of 123 mph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jones was accused of running red lights and continuing to speed after exiting I-4 at Park Road in Plant City. The trooper attempted two PIT maneuvers to stop the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the second PIT maneuver, the car went into a ditch and hit a power pole, causing it to fall onto a nearby business.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 4032px) 100vw, 4032px\" src=\"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Pursuit-Arrest-11-23-2023-1.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39336\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jones was accused of dropping a handgun on the ground as he ran through a yard to escape the trooper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jones was put in handcuffs after surrendering to FHP. On the walk back to the patrol car, the trooper reported Jones saying, \u201cYou knocked me onto that pole. I didn\u2019t know the police is supposed to knock you off the road like that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI then explained to him that the technique used was called a PIT,\u201d the trooper wrote in the arrest report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The damage to the TECO utility pole was estimated at $2,000. When asked why he ran, Jones reportedly said it was because his driver\u2019s license was suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jones was charged with possession of a firearm during a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing police, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, and obstruction without violence.
