Safe Kids Florida Suncoast and State Farm\u00ae Team Up to Keep Kids Safe on the Road<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents and caregivers are invited to join community leaders and safety experts at John Hopkins All Children\u2019s Hospital – Outpatient Care, 3310 Lakeland Hills Blvd in Lakeland for a\u00a0FREE car seat checkup<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n

The event is hosted by Safe Kids Florida Suncoast and State Farm to address one of the leading causes of death for children ages 1-12. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will work directly with families to educate them on the proper installation and use of their car seats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time: <\/strong>10 AM – 1 PM<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location: <\/strong>John Hopkins All Children\u2019s Hospital Outpatient Care (parking lot) at 3310 Lakeland Hills Blvd in Lakeland<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event\u00a0is part of\u00a0the\u00a0Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program<\/a><\/strong>, a new national initiative\u00a0to\u00a0increase access to education and resources, help inspire behavior change, and create a culture of safety for children and families.<\/p>\n\n\n

The statistics are telling:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1-12 in the U.S.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • In 2021, one in three children under age 13 who died in a crash were unrestrained.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Studies examining misuse among users of child car seats estimate that more than half of car seats are not used or installed correctly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cA properly used and installed child safety seat can reduce the risk of injury by as much as 71 percent, but too many families do not have access to the education and safety devices that every child deserves,\u201d said Petra Vybiralova Stanton, Safe Kids supervisor at Johns Hopkins All Children\u2019s Hospital Children\u2019s Hospital in St. Pete and Safe Kids Florida Suncoast coalition leader. \u201cBuckling up every ride every time in the right safety seat is the single most effective way to protect a child.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cWith over 3.6 million children born in the U.S. every year (CDC), State Farm\u00ae is committed to helping kids stay safe From Car Seat to Driver\u2019s Seat\u2122,\u201d says Jose Soto, State Farm Corporate Responsibility Analyst.  \u201cWe\u2019re excited to work with Safe Kids and have this opportunity to give more parents tools to keep their kids safe on the road.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
