Lakeland Linder International Airport&#8217;s announcement that it has reached an agreement for passenger air service with Avelo Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"455\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/blog-header-boeing-737-avelo.jpg?resize=1024%2C455&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-40089\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/blog-header-boeing-737-avelo.jpg?resize=1024%2C455&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/blog-header-boeing-737-avelo.jpg?resize=300%2C133&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/blog-header-boeing-737-avelo.jpg?resize=768%2C341&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/blog-header-boeing-737-avelo.jpg?resize=1536%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/blog-header-boeing-737-avelo.jpg?w=1800&amp;ssl=1 1800w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The low-cost carrier&#8217;s name isn&#8217;t quite a household name yet.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aveloair.com\/\">Avelo<\/a>&nbsp;was founded in April 2021 during the COVID pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Here&#8217;s some basic information about the carrier and its routes today:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flies to 44 U.S. destinations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Routes connect 23 different states.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fleet of 16 Boeing 737 aircraft.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has flown more than 27,000 flights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Served more than 3.5 million customers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Avelo has unlocked a new era of convenience, choice, and competition by flying unserved routes to primarily underserved communities across the country,&#8221; read a statement from an Avelo spokesperson. &#8220;At least one airport on every Avelo flight is a small, easy-to-use airport \u2013 making every Avelo journey easier and more enjoyable.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Avelo&#8217;s performance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"224\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/download-3.png?resize=225%2C224&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-40090\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/download-3.png?w=225&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/download-3.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avelo reports its flight statistics from the Official Airline Guide, better known as OAG&#8217;s Flight Database, on its website:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>87.2% on-time performance for November.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>82.8% of flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time through October.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>0% flight cancellations in November.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>0.1% of flights canceled year-to-date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The airline&#8217;s flight data does not appear on the Federal Aviation Administration&#8217;s monthly reports, as it&#8217;s not a public company yet, according to spokesperson Courtney Goff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s a look at how other airlines stack up, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/sites\/dot.gov\/files\/2023-12\/November%202023%20ATCR.pdf\">November 2023 Air Travel Consumer Report<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Delta Air Lines Network: 84.8% on-time in September, 81.2% year-to-date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>American Airlines Network: 80.3% on-time in September, 76.9% year-to-date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Southwest Airlines: 79.5% on-time in September, 75.3% year-to-date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allegiant Air: 77.6% on-time in September; 71.3% year-to-date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spirit Airlines: 74.8% on-time in September, 66.9% year-to-date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Frontier Airlines: 74.8% on-time in September, 63.2% year-to-date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What about costs?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avelo bills itself as a low-cost carrier. There are some things potential travelers should know about it policies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Passengers can change or cancel itineraries online with no extra fees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travelers age 13 and younger are automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no extra charge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passengers pay to select their seats, or an advanced assignment, starting at $11 with extra legroom starting at $39.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One free personal item is allowed. The price for carry-on bags varies based on flight.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Priority boarding is available for $15.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pets in the cabin are allowed with carrier size restraints for $125.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you need to call Customer Support for help booking, changing or canceling a fight, there&#8217;s a fixed non-refundable fee of $20 per seated traveler.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A full list of Avelo&#8217;s optional services and its associated fees can be found on the airline&#8217;s website at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aveloair.com\/optional-services\">avelorair.com\/optionalservices<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who&#8217;s Avelo?
