One of the best teams in the country, the Seminoles hosted the game at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, in beautiful downtown Tallahassee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?resize=400%2C400&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?resize=250%2C250&amp;ssl=1 250w\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Florida State opened the game with four quick points, before sophomore forward&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wbkb\/2019-20\/bios\/shell_ashley_dnqc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ashley Shell<\/a>&nbsp;hit a layup to put the Mocs on the board.<\/li><li>The Seminoles extended the early lead to seven points, before sophomore guard&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wbkb\/2019-20\/bios\/steele_mackenzie_qvyc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mackenzie Steele<\/a>&nbsp;made the first of her two three-pointers of the quarter to trim the lead to four.<\/li><li>The size and quickness of the Seminoles began to take control, with the hosts controlling the backboards (8-3) and dominating inside the paint (18-4).<\/li><li>After ten minutes, the Seminoles led 24-15.<\/li><li>In the second quarter, the Noles took charge, outscoring the Mocs 25-3, taking a 49-18 lead at the half.<\/li><li>As the second half opened, the Noles continued to push the tempo, but the Mocs rediscovered their offense. FSC shot 37.5 percent in the quarter, with three&#8217;s coming from junior guard&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wbkb\/2019-20\/bios\/burkett_monet_ypty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Monet Burkett<\/a>&nbsp;and freshman forward&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wbkb\/2019-20\/bios\/burke_aubrey_vcvz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aubrey Burke<\/a><\/li><li>In the fourth quarter, Burkett began to find her stroke, hitting a pair of three&#8217;s early in the quarter to fire up the Red and White.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INSIDE THE NUMBERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>While official AP Division I rankings will not be released until next week, Florida State has been pegged as high as 11<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;in the nation by Lindy&#8217;s and ESPNW.<\/li><li>Steele led the Mocs in scoring with 14 points. She made four field goals on the afternoon, including two three&#8217;s, and went 4-of-6 from the free throw line.<\/li><li>Burkett found her shot, scoring all nine of her points on the day on three three-pointers.<\/li><li>Shell and senior forward&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/wbkb\/2019-20\/bios\/pazzaglia-khomenko_katerina_ho1a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Katerina Pazzaglia-Khomenko<\/a>&nbsp;each added five points and one rebound apiece.<\/li><li>For the game FSC shot 28.8 percent, making 17 of 59 shot attempts.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UP NEXT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mocs will open up the regular season on November 8, hosting the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers at 2:00 p.m. inside the Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Fieldhouse, as part of the Gulf South Conference-Sunshine State Conference Challenge.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Florida Southern College women&#8217;s basketball team played an exhibition game at Florida State on Sunday afternoon, and fell 104-46.
